Employers and their agencies use the interview to review their selection of the best candidates by predicting future job performance. Following your written application, a member of the JAV team of specialist I.T. recruitment consultants may contact you and arrange for an interview.
In your interview the JAV consultant will not only ask you questions to verify your technical knowledge and experience but will also ask you several behavioural questions to assess personal attributes such as your communication skills, aptitude for understanding business requirements, interest in ongoing learning and capacity for team work.
Prepare yourself for your interview by:
Arriving at the interview in plenty of time |
Dressing smartly to demonstrate you have made an effort |
Being polite. Sit up a straight in your chair and maintain good eye contact particularly when listening to or responding to questions. |
Preparing at least two situations where you have demonstrated initiative, have achieved outside your role description, have worked as part of a team, used solid communication skills, had to influence others, motivated yourself or others, have adapted to change, or have solved a problem. |
Understand your strengths and weaknesses and have a clear plan of where you are heading in your career |
Prepare intelligent questions that will help you establish if the role is right for you (not just if you are right for the role) |
When you reach the selection stage of interview by the employer also make sure that you have researched the organization, its history, achievements and structure and that you understand it's core business or purpose.
